Why Google Voice Is Good For Your Business

Google Voice is a unique telecommunications service provided by Google that offers free PC-to-PC and PC-to-Phone calls in the United States. Users can also make calls to international phone numbers, but a small per-minute fee applies.

After registering, users can choose a virtual phone number in any area code. That number can, not only be used to make and receive phone calls, but also to send and receive text messages and record voicemails. In addition to this basic functionality, there are also some really cool and innovative features.

As highlighted on Mashable.com, here are just a few reasons why you need Google Voice for your business:

1) Voicemail Search
When someone leaves you a voicemail, Google will e-mail or text message you a digital and searchable transcript. This means that you can search the transcribed text of your voicemail. This allows you to sift through messages to easily find the ones that might be more urgent than others.

2) Ability to Use Different Rules and Greetings for Different Contacts
You can assign contacts to user-defined groups, and then adjust behavior for those groups. You can say that certain individuals or groups should be connected to certain numbers when they call, or block some people from contacting you at all.

You can also create custom voicemail messages for important clients or to represent certain divisions of your business. For example, the voicemail messages for your customer support and sales divisions could greet callers in different ways and with more relevant information on who to contact.

3) Ability to Share Calls with Your Assistant or Partner
Because calls, text messages and voicemails are sent to you via e-mail, you can easily forward them to other people working at your business. But that’s not all you can do. You can actually embed the audio recordings of voicemails and share them via e-mail or other communications media with anyone you want.

  1. Google voice is an awesome tool. As a Droid user I am able to see the power of this tool on a daily basis.
Now that Apple has finally decided to jump on the bandwagon i-phone users will also be able to see the great benefit that this tool has to offer.

  2. The only HUGE problem w/Google Voice is the bad connection. Even with a strong Internet signal, local calls are not clear. You can hear the person, without a problem but they cannot hear you as well.

If Google improves that, it'll be a perfect fit all around even for in't calls.
